What about employees who have come into contact or been exposed outside of the workplace to COVID-19 or have travelled outside of Canada or are unconfirmed cases?

  5. What about employees who have come into contact or been exposed outside of the workplace to COVID-19 or have travelled outside of Canada or are unconfirmed cases?

The directive is the same as above, the employee must not be allowed to access or return to the workplace and must self-isolate for 14 days.

As with a confirmed case, the employee who is an unconfirmed case should be removed from the workplace.

Any employees who may have been in contact with the employee must also be removed from the workplace for at least 14 days of self-isolation.

The Public Health Agency of Canada encourages any person who has even mild symptoms to stay home and call the public health authority in the province or territory they are in to inform them. They will provide advice on what the employee should do.
