FAQ

What is the difference between "Run" and "Save"?

When you download the update you will be prompted to "Run" or "Save" the install package. "Save" lets you specify where the setup file goes just in case you need to reinstall it, or need to install PolicyPro on another computer. You will then need to manually start the install. "Run" starts the installation process once the setup file is downloaded to your temporary internet folder. When you empty the folder the installation package is deleted.

I haven't installed the previous release. Do I need to install that before installing the new release?

No. Each PolicyPro release is complete and up-to-date. Simply install the latest release.

I've already started work on a policy manual. Will I lose my changes if I install the new release?

No, you will not lose any of your work. PolicyPro software releases only update the software. Content updates are handled though a different process. Any changes you have made to a Draft, Official or Archive policy you have created will not be affected by a software update.

Are there any other software components required to run PolicyPro?

PolicyPro requires several other pieces of software be in place in order to function properly. The software requires the following components:

  • Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3.5 or higher
  • Internet Explorer
  • Microsoft Word (or Office)
  • PDF Viewer such as Adobe Reader or Foxit reader

Why do I need Microsoft Office?

The policy templates are in Microsoft Word format and are designed to be used within the PolicyPro workspace. If you do not have Microsoft Office you may not be able to access editable copies of the policies.

Is PolicyPro Compatible with Office 2010?

Yes. PolicyPro is compatible with Office versions 2003 through 2010.

I Want to Back-Up My Policy Manual. Where is it Stored?

If you have moved your policy manual to a network drive, you can check the location of your policy manual by clicking Tools>Options. If the Network or Shared Folder radio button is selected, your policy manual is stored in the folder listed in the Network or shared path box.

Can my Policy manual and policies be stored on a network drive?

However, the PolicyPro software must be installed locally on your computer to ensure all of the necessary Windows controls are installed and registered.
